America's Mike Metzger is the latest world-class freestyle motocrosser to join the Crusty Demons Thirst 4 Destruction tour, scheduled to kick off in Perth, WA, on October 16. Touted as the undisputed 'godfather of FMX', it's been almost a decade since Metzger last travelled Downunder, and he says he's thrilled to be joining the Crusty tour.
"I can't wait to get out there," he said. "I've been wanting to get back to Australia for many years but it hasn't worked out before. I guess almost 10 years on is the right time to head back; it has a nice fit and it feels right. The line-up is insane and the show plan itself is something I just had to be a part of," he added.
That line-up comprises a smorgasbord of top-flight talent from both here and overseas, with the international contingent alone boasting over 30 X Games medals, multiple world records and over 100 international FMX titles to its credit.
Top names hitting the Thirst 4 Destruction circuit include Aussies Robbie Maddison, Jackson Strong, Kain Saul, Matt Schubring, Steve Mini, Emma McFerran and Jasyn Roney, plus Americans Nate Adams, Adam Jones, Seth Enslow and Mike Mason, and Taka Higashino from Japan. McFerran is Australia's first female pro FMXer, while Roney is Australia's youngest, at just six years of age.
Metzger reflected on Australia's importance in the FMX scene: "Australia is kind of where we really first lit the world on fire with freestyle motocross," he said. "It was ridiculous how the fans really took to it. It is fitting that this tour sees us go back to dirt and celebrate the history of the Crusty Demons," he added.

23 October: Adelaide, SA, Entertainment Centre
30 October: Melbourne, Vic, Rod Laver Arena
